I'm a second-generation mortgage broker based in Calgary, Alberta, and I've been licensed since the start of 2020. Mortgage brokering was the family business before it was mine. I grew up around it, and by the time I earned my own license, I already understood something most new brokers take years to learn: this is a relationship business first, and a transaction business second.

I studied economics and finance at the University of Calgary, and it gave me a habit I still rely on: thinking several steps ahead. A mortgage decision rarely just affects the next five years. It affects the next twenty, and the best plans account for that from day one.

That instinct for planning several moves ahead is part of why I pursued my Smith Manoeuvre Certified Professional™ designation. I wanted the tools, and the discipline, to help homeowners use their equity and debt deliberately to build wealth.

I think of myself as a guide, someone who helps clients navigate the nuances and complexities of the modern Canadian financial landscape. That comes naturally to me. I spent five formative years living on a sailboat, traveling the world and building a perspective most people in this industry don't have. Today I spend my time in the Rockies hiking, trail running, and mountaineering. Both pursuits have taught me the same lessons I bring to every client's plan: read the terrain honestly, plan the route deliberately, weigh the risks and consequences of each decision, and adjust as conditions change without losing sight of where you're headed.

I work across a broad network of Canadian banks and lenders, matching each client to the product that fits their goals rather than defaulting to whatever is easiest. I'm also a real estate investor myself, and I use the Smith Maneuver, cash flow dam included, on my own small portfolio of rental properties. Real estate investing is a genuine passion of mine, one that goes beyond The Smith Manoeuvre™ specifically, and it means I'm applying the same strategies I recommend, not just studying them.
